LVS Online - The Leader in Virtual Studies

All You Ever Wanted to Know About Blade Pro,

but were afraid to ask!

These pages were put together from a series of email lessons I produced for my friends at
BladeProPRESETS@onelist.com , back in 1999. I've updated them to include some Super Blade Pro material now.  Please feel free to share this URL with your friends, but don't take the material and repost it in any form. If you would like to use any of the images contained herein, please drop me a line at sbeacham@dizteq.com for permission.

    1.  Obtaining and installing Super Blade Pro-

The software can be downloaded at http://www.flamingpear.com  and can be used for 15 days without registering it.  The cost of the program is about $30 U.S, or $15 US to upgrade from original Blade Pro. The original Blade Pro version is no longer available, but the material contained in these tutorials still relates to Super Blade Pro, except as noted.

Install the program to the your Plugins directory, either directly inside your image editor's program files, or in a remote Plugins directory that you have configured your image editor to refer to.  For information how to configure your Plugins folders for Paint Shop Pro, visit http://www.dizteq.com/joestuff/filter.html.

    2. Running the filter! (I've given instructions to do this in Paint Shop Pro 7.04. If you would like  to use another image editor, simply make sure you have opened your image in a mode which will allow you to apply effects, such as RGB mode in Photoshop.)

Open a new image, 100 x 100,  16.7 million colors, white background  - and go to Effects/Plugin Filters/ Flaming Pear/ Blade Pro (or Super Blade Pro.)

    Super Blade Pro interface

You should see the Blade Pro interface screen, which will look almost exactly like this!  ( It probably won't look the same in the right hand preview screen, because the initial BP preset that it will show is a puffy diagonally striped look that I doubt you will want, not this button I am showing you now!)   The rest of the interface should look the same.

If you have not registered Blade Pro yet, you will have a little registration button in the area of "cancel" and "ok"... don't worry about it till it expires!  (Oh boo hoo, you won't want it to expire, I promise you!)

Don't worry about all these sliders, etcetera, everything will come in it's own time!

Please join us at LVS Online for the best in online education.  Filter Frenzy classes focus on Photoshop-compatible plugins.  Xara X is taught by Ron Lacey and myself, and the rest of the 45+ classes are terrific, as well.  We add new classes every session, so if we don't yet offer a class in something you want, keep watching, or better yet, email a suggestion to questions@lvsonline.com!
